Full Time/Part Time: Full-Time

General Summary of Responsibilities: Person in this position will be able to make repairs on reciprocal and water chillers, including condensers, piping, evaporators and motor drives. Work will involve independent trouble shooting and diagnosing problems with HVAC equipment. Person will need refrigerant license and have significant knowledge on equipment and refrigerant piping systems. Person must be able to utilize an automated work order system and ability to read blue prints and specifications. Person must be able to assist in other areas of HVAC shop to include maintenance of ice machines, cold storage lockers and freezers. Person must be able to work on sophisticated control system which may include laboratory exhaust systems and fume hoods. Individual will abide by all safety rules, regulations concerning HVAC systems and will comply with all applicable health and safety policies and established work practices. This position is a full time 40 hour work week. The person in this position will be on-call, which means responding to emergency calls, including nights, and weekends, as scheduled by the supervisor. Additional time may be required to handle work which extends past the hours mentioned, or to respond to emergency calls. These additional hours may be paid at overtime or the standard hours for the week may be altered to create a 40 hour work period, at the discretion of Management. As appropriate this position is required to report to work in the event of an emergency on campus. In the event of a catastrophic event the university needs to have designated workers to report to campus to assess and repair damages and systems affected. This position is designated for that recall, and may be called to work by appropriate VSU supervision. This person may be asked to be available for emergency overtime when the need arises by responding to overtime call outs before and after standard scheduled hours of work. Work a temporary, alternative schedule or shift as requested by supervisor. On call and standby work is included in this position.

Required Qualifications: Completion of High School Diploma/GED. Universal certification for refrigerant uses. At least 2yrs experience. Must have a valid Georgia Driver license.
