Position Summary: This position is a full-time public communications specialist position for the UNC Highway Safety Research Center and is responsible for supporting communications needs for HRSC, Vision Zero for Youth, the Collaborative Sciences Center for Road Safety, the National Center for Safe Routes to School, and other HSRC projects and activities. The UNC Highway Safety Research Center (HSRC) is looking for a motivated, well written and spoken, organized, communications professional to join our Research Services team. This position requires a candidate with both well-honed, proven, strategic communications experience and a track record of successfully leading projects through the entire lifecycle, from inception to completion, including meeting all reporting requirements along the way. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in both lead and contributory roles in HSRC's communication and project management activities (e.g. helping to both collaboratively develop and then implement a strategic communications or tech transfer plan). The ability to work independently is required, but this position is also part of a four-person communications team which is responsible for promoting HSRC, and research findings, programs, and activities for both state and national projects, campaigns and initiatives in a variety of focus areas.
