DIRECTOR OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION
Duties: This is an executive-level position reporting directly to the Dean of the School of Social Policy & Practice. The Director of Finance & Administration is the chief financial and administrative officer for the School, managing the Division of Budget and Finance; and providing leadership, support, and oversight to all of the School's administrative and financial functions, including research administration. The Director serves as a member of the Dean's Management Team, representing the School and the Dean to the University's executive and financial leadership, as well as on University-wide task forces and teams. He/ she also administers and oversees special projects as requested by the Dean. This position engages in benchmarking with peer groups; and gathers, analyzes, summarizes, and reports on external market data in order to identify issues and opportunities, and pose realistic and achievable short-term and long-term solutions that are aligned with the Dean's strategic priorities and goals for the School. Additionally, he/she develops and implements policies and formulae for allocation of resources within the School, including space, financial aid, Development initiatives, and capital projects. The Director also provides direct oversight and management of the Information Technology function and HR functions, and supervises the IT Director, Business Manager, and Director of Financial Aid. Additional responsibilities may be defined and determined by the Dean.
Qualifications: Master's degree in related field and a minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. Extensive experience in academic environment with working knowledge of tuition revenue, financial aid, gifts and endowments, as well as of grants and research administration, required. The abilities to lead and anticipate changes in the financial and academic landscape; and to advise, counsel, and persuade senior leadership team, are required. Must have strong customer service, interpersonal, and time management skills. Mastery of Microsoft Excel and competence with databases, particularly Business Objects, highly desired.
