Starting Salary Range: Starting Salary: $$42,530 to $45,558 (Step 3); based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Full 2017/18 Salary Range is $42,530 to $73,742/yr

Job Summary:
Continuation of this position is dependent upon annual renewal of funding.

Future Connect is a scholarship program for high school students that seeks to eliminate barriers to attending college while providing on-going support to help students once they get there. Future Connect builds pathways to the future through scholarship money, career guidance and personal advising.

The student College Success Coach is responsible for providing a broad range of services and support to first generation college students who are enrolled at Portland Community College. The College Success Coach provides academic advising, encourages consistent attendance, teaches CG classes and facilitates students getting connected to community services. This coach works with a student population that is 80% students of color. The College Success Coach works independently at an assigned campus and collaborates with other alternative programs staff, instructors and advisors within the college.

Responsibilities/Duties:
- Teaches Counseling & Guidance courses (CG 100 - College Survival and Success and CG 130 - Today's Careers) covering topics such as time management, study strategies, goal setting, learning styles, career planning, and communication skills. Stipends provided for teaching sections in addition to salary range above.
- Advises students on program requirements and helps them develop academic goals. Introduces students to resources available throughout the college. Assists students in career exploration and degree obtainment.
- Evaluates transcripts and develops educational plans.
- Works collaboratively with colleagues to support student success at the college level.
- Helps students access support services within community.
- Maintains Confidentiality.
- Submits information for reports and submits paperwork according to specific timelines.

Masters in Counseling, Psychology (Counseling, Clinical, School, Applied, or Educational), Social Work, Applied Behavioral Science or Education are required to teach CG 100 and 130.

- Experience assessing student needs and coordinating educational and community based services.
- Experience managing caseload and case files.
- Experience working with students or clients in advising and developing goals.
- Demonstrated experience working in an educational or social service environment.
- Demonstrated experience working with at-risk and culturally diverse populations.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of local, state, and federal rules and regulations, PCC academic requirements high school completion requirements, CIM/CAM, Prep, PASS or Perkins goals relating to specific program assigned.
Considerable knowledge of subject area and faculty issues.
Considerable knowledge of ethnic and cultural issues.
Knowledge of assessment, testing, and the interpretation and application of test results.
Knowledge of available college and community resources and/or programs.
Skill in operating a computer and various supporting software packages.

Skill in analyzing, interpreting and assessing data related to student progress, persistence, retention, success and drop out retrieval.
