Radiation Safety Specialist

Radiation Safety Specialist who coordinates the tasks of radiation safety technicians in a variety of areas related to the campus' Radiation Safety program. Major duties include:
1. Coordinate the assignment of radiation protection surveys and assist in performing them.
2. Coordinate logging, contamination monitoring, and distribution of the campus' radioactive material shipments.
3. Coordinate and supervise performance of annual calibrations of campus survey meters.
4. Assist campus Laser Safety Officer with laser laboratory inspections and laser safety training.
5. Serve as the primary EH&S liaison with the Nuclear Reactor Facility and the Brain Imaging Center.
6. Manage the campus' Radioactive Sealed Source Leak Test Program.
7. Perform general laboratory safety surveys.
8. Perform bioassays, review Radiation Use Authorizations for renewal, participate in training of authorized users, serve as a member of the EH&S emergency response team and other EH&S duties as assigned.

Salary: Range $54,212.00 - $56,000.0
Total Hours: 7 - 3:30, M-F
Contract Position.
Must possess a valid California's Driver's License and participate in the DMV Pull Notice program
Must be able to pass a physical examination to wear a respirator.
Must be able to wear PPE
Final candidate subject to background check.
