Automotive instructors teaching in the Toyota T-Ten program are responsible for teaching, developing and leading a cooperative program in automotive technology.  Instructors teach theory and lab in all areas: Automotive Electronics, Engines, Manual and Automatic Transmissions/transaxles, Engine Management and Emissions, Electrical Systems, Heating and Air Conditioning, Brakes and Suspensions.  In addition to teaching, duties include student advising in the automotive technology program; student recruitment and selection which will include travel in and out of state, dealer placement and graduate follow up with Toyota and Lexus automobile dealers.  In order to remain current with automotive technology, the instructor in this position will attend manufacturer-sponsored classes, coordinate and participate on automotive advisory committees, serve as liaison and resources person for the College-area automobile dealers, and Toyota Motor Sales USA, revise and update curriculum as required to meet industry standards and participate in college and department related professional development activities.   QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 8 years full-time related occupational experience or approved Journey-worker status OR Associate’s degree in career field and 4 years full-time related occupational experience OR Bachelor’s degree in the discipline or in a related discipline and 2 years full-time related occupational experience. ASE Master Certification, Expert or higher Toyota/Lexus Technician, Automobile Advanced Engine Performance Specialist Certification, 5 years successful dealership/manufacturer experience, and current Lexus or Toyota dealer technician experience required. Teaching experience, computer literate, T-TEN graduate, and NC-3 training preferred. May involve travel to other campuses, for day, evening and/or weekend classes. 232 day, 12-month contract. A teaching demonstration will be part of the interview process. Position is contingent upon MCC Board of Governors approval. Hiring process includes a background check.  NOTE: College degrees obtained outside the U.S. accepted only when interpreted by transcript service members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
