Brief Summary of Work for this Position:
The College of Health and Human Services Academic Affairs Operations Specialist, reporting to the Coordinator – Academic Affairs Operations, serves as a member of the Academic Affairs Operations service team which provides comprehensive student services and academic affairs operations support throughout the College. Specifically, this employee assumes primary responsibility for process and procedure implementation around academic affairs operations inclusive of, and not limited to, (1) curriculum processes and approval; (2) academic course scheduling; (3) student retention and progression; (4) enrollment management; and, (5) other academic processes and procedures critical for ensuring success of our academic programs and our students. This employee must be a subject matter expert for university, college, school and program level policies, procedures, documents and manuals as they relate to academic affairs and student support.
N.C. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position:
Ability to work in a matrix organization with responsibilities to various entities and stakeholders
Ability to interpret and evaluate complex information
Ability to conduct research and find resources to help staff and faculty make decisions about academic affairs issues
Ability to present ideas and solutions to others, as well as to show flexibility in response to change
Ability to generate comprehensive reports related to academic affairs
Excellent attention to detail
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Knowledge of proper spelling, grammar, punctuation and sentence structure to ensure that written materials, marketing materials, and communications prepared and reviewed are complete, concise, and error-free
Ability to prioritize work tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, organize and adjust workload to handle multiple responsibilities
Proficiency in the use of personal computer with multiple types of software programs, e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Adobe, SharePoint and Outlook
Capacity to embrace and willingness to learn new technologies and software
Ability to learn compliance with legal and university policies
Strong initiative and ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
Ability to exercise sound judgment, tact and discretion in dealing with a wide variety of administrators, faculty, staff and student data
Preferred education, professional skills and experience:
Experience in a College environment within a university
Experience executing academic affairs related policies and procedures
Experience navigating student information system databases and utilize database functionality to research data and preform queries
Recruitment Range: $38,500-$41,191
NC Salary Grade Equivalency: 63
Hours Per Week: 1.0 (40 hours per week)
