Degree and Area of Specialization:

Masters of Science degree required in Entomology (preferred) or a related field.



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Minimum of 1 year of experience with field-based, entomological research to include experimental design, data collection, data summary and analysis and demonstrated report writing.

Minimum of 1 year of experience using Geographic Information Systems software or other spatial analysis software approaches.

Additionally, applicants must have demonstrated experience conducting aquatic invertebrate, toxicological analyses against agricultural xenobiotics.

Applicant must be willing to learn to conduct serological and molecular approaches for analysis of plant pathogens affecting specialty crops.

Position Summary:

This is a position in the Department of Entomology in the Groves Vegetable Entomology Research Laboratory. This research is centered on the ecology and management of insects of commercial and fresh market vegetable crops. Specifically the focus of the research and extension program is to meet the current and emerging challenges of Wisconsin's commercial and fresh market vegetable growers and producers, to deliver research-based information to the stakeholders and the public and to improve the commercial and fresh market vegetable production in Wisconsin through research-based IPM practices. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the candidate will be responsible for the generation of ideas for research related activities, aid in the development and setup of experimental design, collect and organize data obtained from laboratory and field-based investigations, and supervise research support staff to include other research specialists and graduate research assistants.
