Description
The Textile and Apparel (TXA) Division at the University of Texas at Austin seeks an experienced Director of Collections/Lecturer for the Historical Textiles and Apparel Collection. Along with teaching conservation-related courses, the Director of Collections would also be responsible for curatorial oversight of a large collection of textiles, apparel, and accessories. Responsibilities include:

Develop long-term and temporary exhibitions of collection objects incorporating innovative exhibition strategies.

Utilize the collection in support of TXA curricula.

Plan exhibition schedule and curate selective collection exhibitions.

Supervise collection staff, students and collection volunteers.

Teach undergraduate courses in the following content areas: conservation and museum studies (lecture and laboratory courses). Course assignments may vary depending on needs.

Additional duties include providing service in teaching, curriculum development, outreach, and advising student organizations.

Qualifications
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Textiles and Apparel, Museum Studies or a related field with two to four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Desire to work as part of a close team from concept to planning to implementation.
