Degree and Area of Specialization:
M.S. in agroecology or a field related to sustainable agricultural production, with strong knowledge in agronomy and soil science.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
*Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience working in a program focused on organic or sustainable systems.
*Experience in coordination, management and implementation of field-based research plots and proficiency in software used for data analysis associated with field research is required.
*Experience in laboratory based experimentation is preferred.
*Demonstrated experience managing employees and working directly with agricultural producers for research purposes required.
*Must be willing to travel for implementing and presenting research locally, nationally and abroad.
*Ability to interact with the international scientific community and proficiency in French and Spanish is preferred.
*Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication is required, and must be able to communicate about the research using different media (poster, papers, presentation) adapted to scientific, agricultural, and lay audiences.
*Must be willing to work individually as well as in collaboration with others.
Title prefix will be determinated at hire and is dependent on relevant work experience and qualifications.
License or certificate:
This position's primary responsibility will be to manage the organic field crop research. Additional projects and responsibilities related to on farm research projects as well as extension may also arise within the lab.
The researcher must provide their own transportation or have a valid drivers license and meet requirements for UW fleet vehicle usage. The researcher must be a good communicator, be self-motivated, and have a positive attitude towards teamwork.
