Job Title Assistant Professor, Tenure Track, Bilingual Teacher Education
The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor of Bilingual Teacher Education to commence in Fall 2018. The selected candidate will be expected to provide leadership and vision for our Texas Education Agency accredited teacher education program with large numbers of bilingual education students.

- Teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses to students with diverse backgrounds.
- Provide instructional leadership for bilingual certification teacher education program at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Designing, implementing, and publishing meaningful applied research; promise of initiating or maintaining a scholarly agenda (specifically in bilingual or EL education) leading to promotion and tenure.
- Fully participate in internal and external service such as public engagement, ongoing curriculum improvement, student recruiting, student advisement and mentoring, program assessment, program development and leadership, and committee responsibilities.
- Support external funded programs and collaborate with colleagues to actively seek and obtain grants through various funding sources.
- Engage in continual learning to stay current with research, best practices in teaching, and technological applications in the classroom, including online teaching.
- May be assigned to teach evening and/or Saturday classes, develop and/or teach hybrid courses.
- May be assigned to supervise field experiences for bilingual teacher education candidates.
- Develop and maintain collaborative and professional partnerships/relationships with local schools and provide service at the university, state, local and national levels.

The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:
- A doctorate in Bilingual Education or Curriculum and Instruction (bilingual specialization), Reading, Spanish linguistics, or other related Educational field.
- Certification in elementary education and bilingual supplemental
- 18 graduate hours in bilingual education
- Demonstrated academic bi-literate proficiency in Spanish and English
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge of theories and practice of bilingual education, including linguistics
- Three years or more experience as elementary bilingual education teacher in U.S. public schools
- Record of public engagement with bilingual parents and community groups
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience with interdisciplinary work across divisions and departments.
- Demonstrated intercultural communication skills with multicultural populations.
- Experience using technology in teaching, and experience teaching hybrid or online courses.
- Experience acquiring external funding.
- Academic experience working on a campus with culturally diverse students, staff, and faculty.
- PK-3 Spanish dual language or transitional bilingual teacher of record.

Work is primarily sedentary. Sits comfortably to do the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or lifting items weighing up to 15 pounds.
