Position Summary: The Assistant Director will provide strategic vision, development, implementation, and evaluation for Health Promotion and Primary, Secondary & Tertiary Prevention initiatives, predominantly centered around dimensions of wellness (, and working within intersecting topics such as stress reduction, mindfulness, sleep health, nutrition, alcohol, other drug and violence prevention and other related student health and wellbeing indicators. The Assistant Director will contribute expertise and leadership around a range of departmental operations such as budget management, selection and training, assessment and communications, and provides direct supervision to several full-time Program Coordinators, multiple graduate assistants and undergraduate interns, as well as student organization advising. The Assistant Director serves as a leadership member of a larger professional team and reports to the Director for Student Wellness.

Education Requirements: A Master's degree is required, in public health, health promotion, higher education, social work, psychology, or a related human services field, as well as updated certifications and licensures as appropriate to field of study/discipline. Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and/or Certified in Public Health (CPH) or willingness to pursue a plus.

Qualification and Experience: Required Experience - Three (3) or more years of related, progressively responsible, work experience, preferably in health promotion & prevention programs within a higher education environment; - Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously a plus; - Experience with supervision, advising and/or mentoring - Evidence of ability to practice problem-solving skills in analyzing health and wellness needs of emerging adults, especially high-achieving college students; - Evidence of ability to work independently and exercise critical and analytical thinking skills to address student and developing staff needs; - Evidence of ability to work in a fast paced team oriented/collaborative environment; - Experience implementing group, and/or population based educational trainings and interventions; - Evidence of ability to move research to practice. Desired Skills and Competencies - Familiarity with legislation and regulatory compliance related to confidentiality including ADA, FERPA, HIPPA, and other applicable state, federal, and university guidelines; - Knowledge of and ability to apply health education and prevention principles, theories, and practices to a broader campus setting; - Expressed understanding and passion for promoting holistic wellness as model for engaging students in health promoting and prevention oriented programs and services; - Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills, with attention to detail; - Ability to meet deadlines and to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; - Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, statistical analysis software, and other technology desired.
