Posting Information: The responsibilities of the Psychologist involve providing direct clinical services to students within our highly utilized center. These services include individual and group counseling, crisis intervention (daytime and evening/weekends on rotating basis), psychological assessment, and outreach programming. Additionally, the psychologist will provide supervision of doctoral interns and of master's level practicum students. CAPS' staff collaborate with various student affairs departments and other campus partners, as appropriate, to focus on the mental health needs of students. This is a full time 12-month position. The anticipated hiring date is no later than August 1, 2018. The Psychologist works within Counseling & Psychological Services as a generalist to provide mental health services to students. The department is interdisciplinary and comprised of licensed psychologists, licensed clinical social workers and licensed professional counselors. The department also offers practicum training for WCU students who are enrolled in one of the mental health master's programs and hosts an APA Accredited Psychology Internship. CAPS is a department within the Health & Wellness Unit of the Student Affairs Division. The other departments in the unit consist of Campus Recreation & Wellness and Health Services. These three departments work collaboratively to provide for the health needs of the campus and to encourage students to be involved, healthy and well.

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements: Must have a doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology by August 1st, 2018 and be eligible for licensure as a Psychologist in North Carolina. Must have experience working in a university counseling center or with the college-aged population in an outpatient setting.

Preferred Qualifications: At least two years of experience providing clinical services in a university counseling center. Additional expertise in at least one other area including but not limited to multicultural concerns, men's issues, mindfulness, DBT, mood management, or crisis management is highly desired. We seek candidates that can demonstrate their experiences in working with diverse students, faculty and staff and in providing culturally sensitive training to master's and doctoral level trainees.
