Staff Assistant, Web Developer

Department Summary: The Web Services department (Web Team) supports the Intranet, Student Portal, BSU Mobile app, bridgew.edu and related websites. Web Services also develops custom web applications and web related services.

Position Summary: The Staff Assistant, Web Developer is a member of a team responsible for development, support, training, and maintenance of the Bridgewater State University website, portal, intranet, mobile app and related services.

Essential Duties: CORE DUTIES: 1. Assist in the overall technical development of BSU websites, portal, intranet, mobile app and related services. 2. Develop custom themes and design user interfaces. 3. Monitor and maintain quality, security, and accessibility of content and applications. 4. Assist in patching and updating modules, code and application servers. 5. Collaborate with staff to integrate new technologies. 6. Resolve IT help tickets and complete institutional projects. 7. Assist in the recommendation and maintenance of web policies, guidelines, and documentation. 8. Stay current with developments related to web technologies including Drupal, HTML, scripting, browsers, server administration and server monitoring. 9. Actively support the University's diversity and social justice initiatives. 10. Additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor consistent with rank and position.

Required Qualifications: 1. Bachelor degree required. 2. A minimum of two years professional experience developing Drupal or other CMS required. 3. A minimum of two years professional experience with at least one programming/scripting language (PHP, ColdFusion etc.) required. 4. Portfolio of work demonstrating technical competency in website development (HTML, CSS, SQL, Javascript, XML etc.) required. 5. Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise initiative required. 6. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills required. 7. Strong customer-orientation and ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students required. 8. Job duties may require that work be performed after hours and on weekends.

Preferred Qualifications: 1. Drupal experience preferred. Drupal 8 experience strongly preferred. 2. SharePoint experience preferred. SharePoint O365 experience strongly preferred. 3. ColdFusion experience preferred. 4. Web server administration experience preferred. 5. User experience/website design experience preferred. 6. Technology training experience preferred. 7. WCAG 2.0 accessibility experience preferred. 8. Mobile app development experience preferred. 9. Related professional experience in a higher education setting preferred.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000
