The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Sr. Development Director of Major Gifts. Measurements of Success for Major Gift Fundraisers (DOs): Make 15-20 donor face-to-face appointments monthly with a minimum of 200 yearly appointments.10% of the appointments should be solicitations. Demonstrate significant and continuous progress toward campaign or multi-year project goals. Dollar goals established with supervisor. Reach school/departmental yearly cash fundraising goals. Dollar goals established with supervisor. Individual monthly/yearly “amounts solicited” and “amounts received” appropriate to established goals will be measured. Manage 125-150 of active prospects (rated at giving $50,000 or more). Responsibilities: Among the administrative and operational responsibilities, the Sr. Development Director will: Identify prospective donors and funding sources, in conjunction with faculty and staff, and develop cultivation and solicitation plans, involving the aforementioned groups and volunteers, as appropriate. Ensure regular communications and stewardship with donors, including re-solicitations, proper acknowledgement of gifts and pledge payments, reporting, visiting, and providing regular information on the progress of the departments. Assist donors, prospects and other select individuals with appointments, scheduling and other necessary facilitation through clinical encounters at UHealth. Develop and implement an annual work plan with measurable objectives and courses of action for all relevant activities during the years. Maintain communications with colleagues in medical departments, other schools and central development to ensure effective collaborations and synergy in achieving the university’s key fundraising goals and objectives. Maintain in-depth knowledge of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center’s needs, both general and specific to various programs and departments. Document all contacts, communications, visits, and proposals in RE and other appropriate donor files. Where appropriate and required, manage support staff, freelance, temporary employees and related volunteer organizations, as determined by senior management. Provide professional fundraising services and support to other divisions, departments, and centers as required and directed.

The Minimum Qualifications are: Bachelor’s degree and 5 to 10 years of demonstrated successful experience in major gift fundraising and fundraising management, preferably in higher education or health care. Outstanding oral and written communication skills are necessary along with the ability to be highly organized, creative, energetic, and assertive and exhibit the independent judgment and personal integrity necessary to carry out a senior management role in fundraising. A team oriented approach to colleagues and proven ability to manage people in a positive and constructive environment are essential. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.

Patient safety is a top priority.
