Position Summary

The Data Analyst is responsible for preparing periodic reports in support of the University's monitoring program and analyzing data to identify areas of concern. The Data Analyst is also responsible for developing mid-year and annual reports and coordinating with appropriate internal communication partners to disseminate the reports. The Data Analyst will assist in preparing and submitting reports and information to external agencies relating to legal and regulatory inquiries. This may include preparing data, analyzing data, and synthesizing data in to a cohesive narrative. The Data Analyst will serve as the primary point of contact for coordinating the University's climate survey, which may include coordinating and facilitating climate survey work group meetings, communicating with stakeholders involved in developing and executing climate surveys, and assisting with efforts around the dissemination and communication of the survey instrument and survey results. Serves as a liaison for researchers to facilitate discussion around emerging opportunities to partner with researchers, including opportunities to build on climate survey data. Work with partners in Prevention, Outreach, and Education, Health Promotion, Sexual Assault Program, MSU Safe Place and IPSR to develop metrics and report on programmatic outcomes and effectiveness. Serves as a back-up to the Case Manager in preparing routine reports relating to OIE case management functions and responsive to FOIA requests and other ad hoc reporting needs.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post-bachelor degree work, such as a Master's in Educational Administration, Statistics, Economics or Research Methodology; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in research design, statistical methods and knowledge of computer hardware and software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  

Desired Qualifications

Master's degree preferred.  Comprehensive knowledge of theories, concepts and practices and ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations.
