Position Summary

The Research Assistant (RA) will be a full time staff person working across multiple projects within Debra Furr-Holden, Ph.D.’s Health Equity Research Workgroup, including the Flint Center for Health Equity Solutions (FCHES), the Healthy Flint Research Coordinating Center (HFRCC), and other projects within Dr. Furr-Holden’s research portfolio. The RA’s primary duties within FCHES will be to assist in overseeing and coordinating the work of the Center’s Administrative Core, including the development of emerging research activities. The RA will also aid the Academic Principal Investigators and Community Co-investigators of the FCHES Methodology Core and Dissemination and Implementation Science Core, the Partnership Consortium and the two multi-level intervention projects. Within the HFRCC, the RA will support the daily activities of the HFRCC by providing general project management assistance for the Michigan State University portion of HFRCC activities. Under the direction of the HFRCC Executive Board, typical tasks shall include coordination of and on site management of community educational seminars, drafting meeting agendas and recording meeting minutes. The RA can expect to perform similar duties on additional projects focused on increasing equity in the reduction of alcohol use and the prevention of youth violence. This position reports directly to Health Equity Research Workgroup Senior Research Program Manager and others as designated. This is an off date position funded for one year from the date of hire with possible extension contingent upon funding renewal.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in public health or a health-related science field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in public health or population science research or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position will require completion of human research protection training and other related certifications.

Desired Qualifications

Experience working within a group focused on health disparities, health equity, and community engaged research is a plus.
