Areas of Responsibility:
Perform document imaging (scanning, indexing, and verifying) of archived and current student records for Lamar University (LU) and Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT). Assist with file room duties related to archived and current student records. Answer departmental queue telephone calls. Answer departmental e-mail. Provide course descriptions to students and other institutions. Assist with supervision of student workers in document imaging area.

Provide back-up coverage for the Verification Clerk (verification of enrollment, grade changes, credit by exam, and National Student Clearinghouse). Cross-train on multiple departmental duties to provide back-up coverage for other Records Office functions, including front desk and transcript production, as needed . Assist with graduation ceremonies, which includes working some Friday evenings and Saturdays (May, August, and December).

Respond to questions and complaints from staff, faculty, and off-campus customers in matters relating to academic records. Perform other duties as assigned.

Successfully communicate with LU and LIT communities and maintain effective, positive relationships.

Maintain the security of student information and must be familiar with the following rules and regulations: Federal Right to Privacy Act of 1974, as Amended (FERPA), the Student Right-to-Know Act and Texas State University Systein (TSUS) regulations and University policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

A High School Diploma or GED is required.

A minimum of three (3) years ofrelated work experience including keying, maintaining, and outputting data. Good customer service skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with others. Computer experience including data entry, word processing, and spreadsheets required. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are a must.

Requires independent judgement. Efficiency and accuracy with a minimum amount of supervision. Must have careful attention to detail. The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing is required.

Document imaging experience is preferred. A college degree is preferred.
