Student Affairs Coordinator

Job description

The Bard Globalization and International Affairs Program (BGIA) located in New York City, is seeking a Student Affairs Coordinator to join our team. BGIA provides a unique opportunity for college students and recent college graduates from around the world to take specialized courses in international affairs while working in carefully selected internships based on individual interests.

The Student Affairs Coordinator is involved in many aspects of BGIA’s operations and programing:

  • provide internship placement support
  • assist in maintaining and expanding network of internship placement contacts
  • plan social and cultural events and provide support for BGIA orientation sessions
  • oversee course registration process
  • track BGIA admissions process and follow-up with applicants
  • plan and attend 8-12 recruiting trips in the spring and fall semesters
  • assist with other operational and programmatic needs

Reporting directly to the Deputy Director, the Student Affairs Coordinator is a support person for BGIA students, including emotional and academic support, crisis intervention, and assistance in navigating the healthcare and insurance systems. The Student Affairs Coordinator serves as a liaison between BGIA and student housing, as well as several offices on Bard’s main campus in Annandale, such as the Title IX, Disability Services, and International Student Offices. The Student Affairs Coordinator will hire and supervise student employees each summer and semester.

Qualifications: Candidates should be energetic, creative, highly organized, flexible, and open-minded. They should feel comfortable working independently and taking initiative, as well as working collaboratively. Candidates must be willing to travel for recruiting purposes, and available on some evenings and weekends. Applicants with an interest in higher education or social work as well as international affairs are strongly desired.
