Responsibilities

Installs, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs/splices network cabling for all communications networking to include but not limited to fiber optic cable, Cable Television (CATV and other coaxial cable, building infrastructure Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP), Shielded Twisted Pair (STP), and Local Area Network (LAN) cabling. Coordinates with network management concerning cable plant and building wiring installations, repairs, changes, and design.
Reviews, interprets, and prepares worksheets, minor estimates, services orders, network diagrams, and blueprints describing nature of voice, video, security and data communications systems to be installed and/or repaired. Provides detail records of all work activity.
Limited programming and installation of Internet Protocol (IP) based equipment such as: cameras, security devices, switches, wireless access points, and other network equipment. May serve as an on-site work coordinator in the absence of or at the request of the Supervisor.
Performs other duties as required and moves heavy objects of 25 pounds or more. A State vehicle, golf cart, utility vehicle, or all-terrain vehicle will be used to reach site premises. A valid driver's license will be needed in order to operate vehicle.
Performs duties in compliance with ITS policies, guidelines, and processes pertaining to support requests, work orders, project management, change management, and incident management. Appropriately utilizes associated tools in accordance with ITS standards.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency and three years experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to three years.
Possess a valid Florida/Georgia driver's license.
Experience and knowledge in documenting new and existing processes.
Knowledge and experience in gathering, interpreting, reporting, and editing information.
Experience in prioritizing, organizing, and performing multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Knowledge and experience with applicable computer applications and computer functions.
Experience and knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within the telecommunications, network, and data fields.
Ability to move heavy objects of 25 pounds or more.
Experience safely operating machinery, tools, equipment and materials used in area of work

Anticipated Salary Range

Monday through Friday, 7:30AM-4:30PM

This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.

Criminal Background Check
