Duties: Penn's College of Liberal and Professional Studies (LPS) is looking for a Marketing and Communications Writer with at least 5 years of experience working in higher education, a creative/marketing agency or other related field to join our collaborative marketing team.

Under the direction and general supervision of the Creative Marketing Manager, the Marketing and Communications Writer works closely with an award-winning marketing team to generate ideas and produce high-quality content for all digital, audio and print communications -- websites, e-mails, advertisements, brochures, flyers, posters, radio, news articles, faculty/student profiles, and other promotional materials that help achieve LPS project and program goals.

The Marketing and Communications Writer works with the Creative Marketing Manager and Director of Marketing to identify newsworthy content and pitch story ideas to central University Communications. S/he works to enhance brand and program awareness for LPS by soliciting content from program teams to support marketing efforts. S/he develops contacts and manages editorial relationships with appropriate trade journals and professional organizations and partners.

The Marketing and Communications Writer is expected to understand the mission of the business unit and goals of its programs and be able to convey that in a cohesive voice across all projects, platforms and communications to support LPS objectives.

The Marketing and Communications Writer builds relationships with program directors, recruiters, and enrollment and admissions staff, and works collaboratively to shape communications for prospective students, applicants, and newly admitted students.

The Marketing and Communications Writer is responsible for editing, proofreading and ensuring the accuracy of all content and adherence to LPS style guides and standards.

The Marketing and Communications Writer must be comfortable working both collaboratively and independently under tight deadlines and balancing multiple projects simultaneously.

A great eye for detail and a passion for higher education a must.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree and two to three years of digital communications and marketing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, is required. Five to seven years are strongly preferred. S/he must have professional experience collaborating in a team environment on the development of creative concepts and strategic writing, as well as the ability to manage and prioritize multiple detail-oriented assignments. S/he has history of strong editing and proofreading skills. The ideal candidate has experience maintaining relationships with editorial contacts from appropriate trade journals and professional organizations and partners. Preference is given to candidates who have experience with content marketing, user experience and writing press releases.

S/he demonstrates advanced-level knowledge of industry-standard applications including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Acrobat. Experience with higher education is a plus. Knowledge of the Adobe suite, content management systems and other web applications, including project management software, is a plus.

Evidence of continuing studies, coursework and active professional involvement is a plus.

Writing samples must be provided for consideration.
