IT SR PROJECT LEADER
Duties: Application and Information Services (AIS), a unit within Information Systems and Computing (ISC), works with University clients to plan, acquire, develop, and maintain the University s core business and student support systems. AIS is seeking an IT Sr Project Leader to join the team responsible for the implementation of the Penn's Next Generation of Student Systems (NGSS). This position will use strong organizational and project management techniques to provide technical and managerial oversight for the NGSS project at Penn, providing an understanding of the diverse application functionality requirements for students, faculty, and university personnel. This is a matrix management leadership position which will require working in student-related client areas, including SRFS, the Provost Office and Schools. This position will work in conjunction with other Sr Project Leaders, Architects and the NGSS Program Manager; will need to maintain a current understanding of business and technological aspects; provide vendor relationship management and coordinate across ISC units, ensuring client needs and University interests are met. This Sr Project Leader will conduct planning, solution design and implementation; defining milestones, timelines, resource needs, budgets and communications and as appropriate manage and mentor staff, oversee contractors, ensuring projects are on-time and on-budget; evaluate work performed and ensure that it is performed in compliance with established university and departmental policies, methodologies, and standards and have working knowledge of commonly used business concepts, practices, and procedures.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and minimum of four years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience required in using project management techniques to provide technical and administrative oversight for management of projects; defining project milestones, timelines and budgets; evaluating and ensuring all work performed is in compliance with established university and departmental policies, methodologies, and standards; identifying necessary resources, managing and mentoring project resources; and developing communications in support of project needs for both technical and non-technical audiences. Demonstrated ability for ensuring the team gathers requirements, conducts design and deploys innovative and secure solutions to support client functions, coordinating as needed across ISC organizations. Must possess previous demonstrated experience in defining direction and managing delivery of solutions for large enterprise student systems; Banner experience a plus. Experience as resource manager for designated application staff, including monitoring of work assignments, providing input to and providing performance feedback.
