Job description

Duties: Under limited supervision, this position supports the financial operations of the Department of Physiology and the Pennsylvania Muscle Institute and assists the Grants Manager with pre and post award financial responsibilities. Meet monthly with PI's to review, analyze, and interpret financial data. Review and prepare grants for close-out. Prepare and enter journals and budgets. Enter grant applications in PD. Review AIS' for accuracy. Prepare monthly financial and ad hoc reports as needed. Review and approve purchase order requests for accuracy and compliance. Review and approve Concur submissions for accuracy and compliance. Review encumbrances monthly and ensure release in timely manner. Process Deposits. Approve/Update feeder system requests. Enter PO's as needed. Run BEN Financial/Business Object reports. Review accounts and reconcile monthly transactions for accuracy and compliance with sponsor guidelines. Maintain accurate and complete documentation for account files. Identify and correct wayward transactions.
This position reports to the Administrative and Financial Officer with a dotted reporting line to the PSOM Office of Research Support Services.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree and 2 years to 4 years of accounting experience, preferably with grant accounting. or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, BEN Financials, and Business Object strongly preferred. Excellent verbal, written, and analytical skills required. Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
