Posting Information: The School of Accounting, Finance, Information Systems and Business Law (AFIB) invites applications for up to two fixed term positions (renewable) in Business Law at the level of Assistant Professor beginning Fall semester 2018. Teaching responsibilities include four courses (face-to-face or online format) per semester at the undergraduate or graduate level. The successful candidate(s) will possess the ability to teach diverse legal topics and their business applications. Intellectual contributions are expected in one or more of the following areas: technology, international law, business associations, contracts, environmental law, employment law, ethics, marketing and ADR. Moreover, teaching and service duties may require a 5-day per week presence on campus. Primary duty assignment will be the main campus in Cullowhee. However, the duty assignment may involve distance and/or online delivery methodologies. The successful candidate will be expected to advise students, be involved in appropriate student organizations, and fulfill normal institutional service obligations. Western Carolina University is AACSB accredited and the College of Business has over 65 faculty members. The position is renewable on an annual basis. A demonstrated record of achievement in teaching at the college or university level is preferred. A commitment to teaching excellence and innovation and the responsibility of four undergraduate classes per semester are required. A willingness to teach online courses is also required. Additional service responsibilities may include advising students, advising a student organization and other service assignments as designated by the School Director. Moreover, the candidate must meet the AACSB accreditation requirements regarding academic qualification of college of business faculty. The AACSB requirements for academic qualification mandate a minimum level of relevant research and publication.
Minimum Training & Experience Requirements: The minimum of a JD degree from an ABA accredited law school is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Additional post graduate degree in a business-related field. Teaching experience. Publications in a business-law related field.
