Salary Range: $4,421 - $6,299 per month (Anticipated hiringsalary: $4,421 per month)

Note: This is a full-time (40 hours per week), probationary, exempt position

Overview:

The Transfer Admission Coordinator reports directly to the Associate Director of Admissions and oversees the daily activities of the Transfer Admissions Unit. The Transfer Admissions Unit is responsible for providing admission andadvising services that assist transfer students in their transition to the university. The Transfer Admissions Unit admits incoming transfer students,advises transfer students regarding their admissions requirements and their transfer credit applicable to baccalaureate programs,identifies requirements for their particular major,and advises students regarding appropriate pathways for meeting major and General Education degree requirements. The incumbent also serves as the liaison between the Admissions Office and Undergraduate Student Recruitment and other stakeholders.

Position Summary:

	Supervise Transfer Admission Advisors and manage all functions and services related to admissions determinations for new transfer applicants and the acceptance of transfer credit from sending institutions	Implement admissions and transfer credit in accordance with policies such as CSU Executive Orders, campus policies, and Title 5 statutes of the State of California Code of Regulations	Direct staff and determine appropriate caseload assignments	Provide various admissions and activity reports to supervisor using Hobsons Radius other CRM, PeopleSoft and Tableau	Identify staff resources and technical needs	Participate in development of procedures for handling of admission files utilizing the Degree Audit Reporting System (U.Achieve)	Develop tools for effective advising of students with transfer credit and interprets CSU transfer credit rules to students, faculty, parents, advisors and staff from campus programs, and community college counselors	Implement local campus grading policies on transfer work including policies for grade repeats, course substitutions, double counting of coursework for the major and General Education, and adjustments of excess transfer units	Respond to inquiries from students and faculty regarding transfer credit, major and General Education-Breadth requirements of the CSU	Provide advising and solutions to students in the area of transfer admission	Support Undergraduate Student Recruitment with regards to pre-admission counseling and advising of prospective students	Act as a liaison with community colleges, local campus departments, and provides degree audit training for faculty and departmental staff and participates in campus workshops such as Dog Days Advising, various transfer workshops and other programs offered by academic departments	Work closely with Undergraduate Student Recruitment and community colleges in overseeing the admission processes for partnerships such as the University Transfer Scholars Program	Occasional travel for trainings and presentations at conferences including some overnight stays	When requested, represent Admissions in the area of transfer admissions at events sponsored by key stakeholders. Some events take place on weekends.Secondary Duties of the job include:

	Process a variety of U.Achieve related functions such as reviewing error reports, exception requests, GE exceptions, catalog year requests, certifications, posting of transfer credit for graduate students, posting of international transfer credit etc.	Advise students regarding admissions and transfer credit practices and responding to inquiries from campus academic advisors and faculty	Help to review, edit and manage the communications to admission applicants	Works occasional evenings and weekends during peak Admissions periods	Perform other job-related duties and projects as assignedKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:

	Thorough knowledge of the principles of individual and group behavior	General knowledge of the policies, procedures and practices of a university admissions department	General knowledge of the principles, practices and trends of the Student Services field	General knowledge of individual counseling techniques	General knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge, of the organizational procedures and activities of the CSU Fresno	Working knowledge of student services programs outside the program to which immediately assignedAbility to:

	Analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action	Advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters	Determine appropriate courses of action and proper techniques to utilize while engaged with individuals in personal interactions of an argumentative or sensitive nature	Interpret and evaluate descriptions and explanations of problems brought forward by individuals or student organizations, analyze and define the problem, draw valid conclusions and project consequences of various alternative courses of action	Carry out a variety of professionally complex assignments without detailed instructions	Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individualsEducation and Experience:

	
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 	Equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience	
      		A master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience		A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience	
    	Preferred Skills:

    	Experience with a complex student data system or degree audit system, preferably PeopleSoft, U.Achieve or comparable applications	Comprehensive knowledge or policies and procedures related to admission and transfer credit practices in higher education and degree requirements for baccalaureate majors at Fresno State	Comprehensive knowledge and experience with campus grading policies, academic program practices, and applicable CSU Board of Trustee policy	Knowledge of major and general education requirements and provisions of Title 5 of the State of California Code of Regulations	Experience advising students regarding admissions and transfer credit practices and responding to inquires from campus academic advisors and facultyAbility to:

    	Learn, interpret, and apply a wide variety of complex policies and procedures relating to admissions, evaluations, and advising practices.	Develop creative solutions for students utilizing knowledge of campus academic, departmental, and student affairs practices and course substitutions typically authorized by faculty	Organize and plan work and projects including handling multiple priorities	Make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment.	Compile, write and present reports related to work assignments	Work with frequent interruptions
