The Pediatrics Cardiology Clinic is seeking a Nurse Clinical/Ambulatory.
Registered nurses in the Kentucky Children's Hospital Congenital Heart Clinic provide care coordination for patients ranging from infant to adult ages with congenital heart disease. Patient conditions include pediatric cardiac disorders such as atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, Tetralogy of Fallot, atrioventricular canal, hypoplastic left heart syndrome, pulmonary hypertension, truncus arteriosus, transposition of the great arteries, pulmonary atresia, cardiomyopathies, cardiac rhythm disturbances, Kawasaki disease, and myocarditis, as well as patients requiring pacemakers or implanted cardiac defibrillator for complete artrioventricular block, sick sinus syndrome, or ventricular dysrhythmias.
The outpatient pediatric cardiology care team is comprised of ten cardiologists, two advanced practice providers, registered nurses, clinical services technicians, social worker, and sonographers.
The primary responsibilities for this position consist of patient coordination, patient education, organization and communication for interventional referrals, close monitoring of shunt dependent infants, managing medication refills and lab work for patients on anticoagulation, immunosuppressant, or pulmonary hypertension therapies, triage patient and family concerns, performing exercise stress tests with provider supervision, assisting with training and delegating duties to clinical service technicians in a collaborative work environment.
The environment supports collaboration among the nursing staff and the team of providers to increase communication and enhance expected patient outcomes. This includes utilization of the nursing process in conjunction with a comprehensive patient centered plan of care, ensuring patient satisfaction, delegating duties to unlicensed personnel, and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
