Brief Summary of Work for this Position:
The Accounts Payable Specialist position processes vendor invoices for purchase orders and Independent Contractors. This includes reviewing data, researching and resolving invoice discrepancies, and data entry into the web-based purchasing system and financial system of record. This position also reviews 1099 data. The disbursements staff interacts with all campus departments as well as outside vendors.

N.C. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position:
Knowledge and theory of generally accepted accounting principles
Knowledge of business, financial and general administrative processes in a business setting
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to communicate at all organizational levels
Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred education, professional skills and experience:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field
2-3 years of Accounts Payable or general ledger experience
Experience with Banner Finance or similar ERP application
Experience in higher education

Recruitment Range: $37,156 - $38,442
NC Salary Grade Equivalency: 63
Hours Per Week: 1.0 (40 hours per week)
Months Per Year: 12 Months
Work Days: Monday - Friday
Work Hours: 8:00AM - 5:00PM
