The Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Associate in the field of seagrass ecology, in support of the Virginia Coast Reserve LTER project. The tasks of the position include: 1) analysis of long-term data on seagrass restoration trajectories; 2) evaluation of environmental controls on resilience of seagrass ecosystems; and 3) analysis of biogeochemical (carbon, nitrogen) processes and sequestration.
Candidates must have a background in seagrass ecology. Experience with the following technical aspects is preferred: statistical methods, spatial analysis, carbon and nitrogen analyses, and boat operations. This is a 12-month appointment that may be extended depending on performance and available funding.
The completion of a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences or Ecology is required by the appointment start date. The anticipated start date for this position is June 1, 2018.
