Technology Support Technician

Primary Function of Organization Unit: CALS Academic & Administrative Technology (CAAT) provides technology support for CALS administration, CALS academic departments, and CALS research stations. We provide web design, web hosting, application development, and database services for CALS as well as various NCSU entities. We also provide student computing facilities, multimedia classrooms, and large format printing services.

Essential Job Duties: This position will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of all College of Agricultural & Life Sciences (CALS) supported multimedia facilities; this includes the support of the hardware, software, and networking/cabling of the facilities. This position coordinates the college's large format printing services and assists with content capture requests using technology like MediaSite and Collaborate.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Department Required Skills: * Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with University faculty, staff and students. * Must be able to climb ladders frequently while simultaneously holding/installing electronic equipment. * Must be able to frequently lift at least 50lbs and occasionally lift up to 75 - 100lbs. * Frequent bending, stooping and crawling is required. * Must be comfortable operating a van and a golf cart.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: * One year work experience installing and supporting multimedia, audiovisual or videoconferencing equipment. * Working knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems; understanding of networking in a LAN environment. * Working knowledge of Windows Active Directory and JAMF. * Experience with Polycom, Extron and SmartTech products. * Experience using large format printers.

Necessary Licenses and Certifications: A valid drivers license is required for travel. NC drivers license required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained.
