Position Summary: The Department of Consumer Sciences in the College of Human Environmental Sciences at the University of Alabama is seeking dynamic Assistant Professor/Associate Professor to work with existing faculty to expand undergraduate and graduate programs in financial planning and financial counseling that are approved by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP® Board) and Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE®). The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on campus and online; maintaining a nationally-recognized research agenda; serving on department, college, and university committees; mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; and seeking funding to support both instruction and research. To be considered for the position of Associate Professor, the applicant must have attained tenure at a comparable university and be evaluated by the College of Human Environmental Sciences Tenure and Promotion Committee according to The University of Alabama Criteria and Standards for Promotion available at http://facultyhandbook.ua.edu/iii-promotion.html The department offers a bachelor's degree in Consumer Sciences with concentrations in consumer affairs and family financial planning and counseling and a master's degree with concentrations in consumer economics and family financial planning and counseling. These concentrations are currently being pursued by approximately 250 undergraduate students and 55 graduate students.

Minimum Preferred Qualifications: To be considered for the position of Assistant Professor, the applicant must hold an earned doctorate from a nationally accredited institution in consumer sciences, personal finance, financial planning, or closely related field. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and teaching both online and on campus graduate courses in financial planning or closely related field. An established program of research or demonstrable promise of future research productivity is expected. Active membership in relevant professional organizations is desirable. Preferred Qualifications: *Experience developing and teaching both online and on campus graduate courses in financial planning or closely related field. *Demonstrated ability to mentor graduate students. *Current CFP® certificate in good standing.
