The Center for Applied Energy Research is in need of an Engineer Technician for our Power Generation Group. This position will include significant hands on maintenance and operation of at least three demonstration-scale experimental facilities: a CO2 capture system in Harrodsburg, KY, as well as a coal to liquids facility and a chemical looping combustion facility in Lexington, KY, with occasional meeting and laboratory attendance at UK's Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER) main office facility in Lexington, KY. Responsibilities of the Engineer Technician include: calibration of equipment and analytical apparatuses, safe and effective operation of equipment and analytical apparatuses; troubleshooting; procuring materials and supplies; maintaining records; and following standard operating procedures (SOPs). The successful candidate must continually be safety conscious, self-motivated, reliable and able to travel both locations on a daily basis. It's also vital that this position collaborates with fellow technicians and researchers and have the ability to work both independently and with a team. Because of compelling public safety requirements, this position requires pre-employment drug screening and follow-up random drug and alcohol screening during the period of work at the CO2 capture system.
