The Department of Neurology at the Dell Medical School of The University of Texas at Austin is seeking both a senior and junior level, full-time dynamic Clinical Neuropsychologists to join the Mulva Clinic of the Neurosciences Cognitive Impairment team and the faculty of the Dell Medical School. Successful applicants would provide neuropsychological testing, diagnostic evaluation, consultation, counseling, and relevant education for individuals with cognitive impairment. Eligible applicants would have prior neuropsychological assessment experience and be proficient completing the full evaluation from intake through presenting assessment results. The successful candidate will have experience with neurology populations, with an emphasis on dementia and neuro-degenerative disorders, including identifying neurological, psychological, emotional, behavioral, or medical issues impacting symptom presentation. The candidate will also supervise staff psychometricians and trainees at the pre-doctoral and post-doctoral level. The candidate will have the opportunity to work on clinical trials and clinical research projects ongoing in the institution.

These positions will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team focused on designing and implementing an integrated program for individuals with cognitive impairment and their family members. The team will include neurologists, geriatric psychiatrists, neuropsychologists, psychometrician, social workers, physician extenders, and medical assistants.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a clinical content expert on the neuropsychological aspects of cognitive impairment for the Mulva Clinic of the Neurosciences evidence-based care delivery and redesign initiatives.
  • Coordinate the design and implementation of neuropsychological testing within the cognitive impairment IPU at the Dell Medical School Health Transformation Building
  • Participate in strategic planning and other efforts directly tied to the development and growth of the Mulva Clinic of the Neurosciences
  • Assist in the creation of infrastructure for assessing cognition within the framework of value-based and patient-centered care
  • Develop partnerships with referring physicians, hospitals, and ancillary providers in Austin and Central Texas.
  • Train and mentor students, residents and fellows on new models of care and clinical practice.
  • Develop and foster an atmosphere of scientific and academic inquiry in conjunction with trainees and researchers within the multidisciplinary team
  • Collaborate with other schools at The University of Texas at Austin and across The University of Texas system on multidisciplinary, value-based care models
  • Actively participate in the respective academic department of the candidate and abide by all required Departmental policies.

Required qualifications:
  • Eligible for a faculty appointment
  • PhD or PsyD Required from an APA-accredited program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or related field
  • Current state licensure as required, or license-eligible
  • Expertise in working with adults and geriatric patients preferred
  • Have post-doctoral training in Neuropsychology, for example by way of a Clinical Neuropsychology residency or fellowship

Preferred qualifications:
  • 3 years of clinical experience in neuropsychology, preferably with a dementia population
  • Experience with value-based care delivery and integrated practice models
  • Experience delivering care through a multidisciplinary team
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Clinical Neuropsychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) or the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology (ABN)
  • Record of leadership and achievement
