The Research Assistant will assist in the day-to-day implementation of infant research studies in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department.
The Research Assistant will oversee subject recruitment, scheduling and testing and participate in all data collection/management efforts. Responsibilities will include: initiating, executing, and completing research and experiments; logging and securely storing data; assisting the Principal Investigator in reporting on findings and preparing research papers for publication and dissemination; supervising student lab assistants and assisting in other activities that contribute to the overall success of lab and research.
The Research Assistant may be asked to complete additional tasks on an as-needed basis to support the research team including meetings, preparing materials, ordering supplies, and maintaining organized records and practices.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as psychology, education, social science, or health science. Undergraduate research experience in an infant research laboratory is highly desirable. Previous experience in research and other project management, budget, facilitating meetings, and providing supervision is preferred but not required.
Education and enthusiasm may substitute for experience. Knowledge about project management in research labs is a plus. Excellent skills in Microsoft Office and Google suite of programs, ability to conduct literature searches, strong writing and communication skills are required. Excellent social skills are highly desirable as this person will be interacting with the public. Must be a detail-oriented, punctual person with strong communication skills, excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
