Nature of Work
This position is responsible for the supervision of the independent self-operated Bookstore at the University of West Georgia. This position reports directly to the Director for Auxiliary Services. In partnership with Auxiliary Leadership the Bookstore Supervisor will develop and execute successful annual retail business plans and budgets for the UWG Bookstore. This position will supervise a team of Bookstore employees with diverse responsibilities including general merchandise and textbook ordering, marketing, selling, following leadership developed guidelines for quantities, styling and pricing, regular and year end inventories of merchandise, receiving and shipping, accounting and invoicing processes ensuring accuracy and documentation for these areas. This position will be a primary point of contact for faculty and staff across campus when relaying course materials information. The position must maintain financial sustainability of the operation. The Bookstore Supervisor will rely heavily on communication skills, training, directing, and follow up to successfully achieve the operational goals of the store.
Required – Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience directly supervising employees. Retail business acumen and experience. Ability to use Microsoft Office suite required. Intermediate or higher Excel skills with the ability to analyze data, track sales, expenses, and budgets. Experience with information systems.
Preferred – Bachelor’s degree in a business related field. Previous experience with retail integrated inventory control and point of sales systems. Experience working in Higher Education with or for a self-operated unit. Experience working within University System of Georgia. Experience with SCT Banner, PeopleSoft Financials and Nebraska Book Company software.
$45,540/yr (minimum) to $58,632/yr (midpoint)
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Must be able to lift 40lbs consistently. The ability to consistently stock and relocate heavy textbooks is required for this position.
