To oversee and provide leadership, program development, coordination, teaching and evaluation for statewide 4-H youth and family focused programming through UVM Extension 4-H Youth Development that will enhance life skills of young people, encourage youth to explore career opportunities, build knowledge and skills and attract new participants. This will include recruiting, supervising and collaborating with volunteers and staff, strategic thinking, grant writing, program development and training, and stimulating excellence in carrying out the overall 4-H mission. This is done with minimal supervision, individually and also in collaboration with a statewide team of 4-H educators and one program manager.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Master's degree and four years' related experience with focus in either youth programming or volunteer development required. Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work with youth and adult volunteers in a team environment required. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate goals required. Ability to provide leadership in collaborative environment required. Computer and electronic communication proficiency required. Ability to work flexible schedule, which will include evenings, weekends, and willingness to travel, primarily within the state required.
Demonstrated competency in youth, volunteer and program development highly desirable.
The position is statewide in focus; the office location can be in one of the following locations: Brattleboro, Berlin, St Johnsbury, Rutland, Morrisville, or S Burlington.
Occasional night and weekend hours.
6 month probationary period required.
