Nature of Work

A PRA position is open in Dr. McKee's laboratory in the Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. Our laboratory focuses on pulmonary dendritic cell function. We are investigating the role of dendritic cells and macrophages in the initiation of immunity and tolerance. We are seeking a PRA to assist in experiments with a mouse model of disease.

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Example of Work
  • Flow cytometry to characterize lung antigen presenting cells and T cells (
  • Mouse handling and treatments
  • Mouse dissection and tissue processing
  • Cell culture
  • Performance of ELISAs and other in vitro assays
  • PCR, protein expression
  • Interface and communicate effectively with other lab members
  • Data analysis and presentation


Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a BS in Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Cell biology or Molecular Biology

Required Competencies: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent communication skills using the English language
  • Ability to work independently and an interest in immunology
  • Basic word processing, spreadsheet, and powerpoint skills
  • Comfort working with laboratory animals (mice)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working in a laboratory setting
  • Flow cytometry experience
