Professional Research Assistant

The Division of Surgery/Urology has an opening for a full-time Junior Professional Research Assistant to work at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.

General tasks include, but are not limited to:
  • The position will be based in the pediatric clinic screening, recruiting (inpatient, outpatient, prior to procedures), consenting, and following up with subjects by telephone or in clinic.
  • Responsible for all data collection and documentation; responsible for documentation of research procedures in EMR (Epic) and eCRF following IRB and facility guidelines.
  • Develops and submits compliant IRB applications, Continuing Review Reports and all other required documents to support the conduct of clinical trials research.
  • Performs duties incidental to research such as administering clinical assessment tools and questionnaires, collecting and processing lab specimens, collaborating with numerous departments, staff, providers and patients.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent experience.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) in health-related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Two years of experience in a healthcare environment; pediatric experience preferred.
  • Clinical research experience; Experience with Good Clinical Practices, FDA rules and regulations, NIH guidelines, HIPAA regulation and ICH guidelines in relation to research trials. Knowledgeable in recruiting, consenting, following protocol guidelines; IRB submission guidelines and documentation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to problem-solve, and multi-task.
  • Business appropriate written and verbal communication skills.
  • Communicates appropriately and effectively with hospital/clinic staff, study subjects, children, parents, team members and visitors, including telephone etiquette.
  • Has outstanding customer service skills and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
  • Functional knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Good computer skills, particularly with software in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member and work effectively with diverse people, parents and children.
  • Ability to promote and protect confidentiality; able to take responsibility for quality and compliance of research project following GCP, IRB and facility guidelines.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks in a fast paced setting. Self-motivated and able to learn tasks quickly.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and maximum accountability.
