Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree in HR management, public administration, business/management or related field preferred OR equivalent experience.



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Experience assisting in the management of the employee relations program for a multi-shift, multi-lingual employee population; with experience to include, but not limited to, the development and consultation of policies and procedures, recommending dispute remedies and establishing strong partnership with all parties, (e.g., employees, supervisors, governance groups, etc.). An ideal candidate will have a strong interest, educational background and/or experience in employee relations or have a role in human resources with employee relations experience.

An individual seeking the Senior Level for this recruitment requires a minimum of at least seven years of professional experience and advanced knowledge and skills. At the Senior Level, the individual can demonstrate a consistent record of exemplary performance and has demonstrated experience in developing new approaches, methods or techniques to resolve problems with little or no expert guidance and demonstrates the ability to cope independently with new, unexpected or complex situations. At this level, the individual is expected to be able to guide or train other professionals or to oversee their work.



License or certificate:

SHRM-CP or the SHRM-SCP is a plus.



Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Director of Human Resources for the Division of Facilities Planning and Management, this position is responsible for the full scope of responsibilities related to workforce relations within Facilities Planning and Management. The incumbent is expected to demonstrate exceptional customer service by establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with managers, supervisor, coworkers, and all customers, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information with tact and discretion, and using effective team skills to contribute to the efficient operation of the division.

Facilities Planning and Management consists of the following departments: Associate Vice Chancellor's office; Physical Plant; Transportation Services; Capital Planning and Development; Campus Planning and Landscape Architecture; Environmental, Health and Safety; and Space Management. Facilities Planning & management is a diverse, complex 24-hour operation which includes multiple and rotating shifts and employs over 1,200 academic and university employees, temporary employee's and students; this includes non-English speaking employees.
