Position Summary: The Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease (CGIBD) is the stand-alone research department serving investigators who have an interest in digestive disease research. The goal of the CGIBD are to improve the environment for digestive disease research. The Center achieves this goals through scientific research cores that provide services, assays and animals, an enrichment program of seminars, vising professors and symposia, and pilot\feasibility awards to support career development. The primary purpose of the Team Lead of the Bioinformatics Software Development Group is to provide oversight and be the team lead and technology subject matter expert for the CGIBD Informatics team. This role will be the liaison between operational staff, scientific investigators and software developers. This role will support the implementation of clinical trial and patient registry research projects associated with CGIBD member grants by developing software to support data capture, validation, management, reporting and extraction, as well as process programming to support research protocols.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Math, or Engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in business application consulting or development; or -Bachelor's degree with some computer coursework from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in business applications consulting or development; or -Associate's degree in computer programming and three years of experience in application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience with an additional one year of experience.

Qualification and Experience: Proficiency in web and database-relevant computer languages (Java, Java Script, PHP, SQL). Expertise and experience with database design and World Wide Web technology. Experience with data management. Organizational skills and ability to plan, implement, and evaluate project goals and objectives. Strong attention to detail and ability to understand and describe complex processes. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Candidates must possess strong decision-making skills and the ability to problem solve and troubleshoot issues. Prefer experience with Ruby on Rails. Prefer computer programming and data management to be in management of biomedical databases for large experimental/clinical/genomic studies. Prefer five (5)+ years working independently and MS preferred. Prefer candidates with managerial and project planning experience.
