Minimum Education/Experience: M.D. or Ph.D. in medical education, public health, health administration, or closely related field. Experience in developing, implementing, and/or administering diversity and Inclusion programs, to include at least two years establishing a track record of leadership in building and evaluating diversity and inclusion programs for within an integrated, complex, and matrix academic medical center. Demonstrated excellence in aspects of diversity including recruitment and retention issues, learner diversity, diversity in healthcare, access and equity, culture of inclusion and identity development. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with senior administration to build positive vision, direction, and results through strategic Initiatives that holistically impact diversity. Demonstrated experience in the dynamics of organizational change. Knowledge and experience regarding the culture of healthcare. Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills; strong management and planning skills; and computer literacy.

Job Duties: This is faculty position that will have .30 FTE assigned to duties as the Assistant Dean of Diversity and Inclusion for the Brody School of Medicine. The newly created position Assistant Dean for Diversity and Inclusion will play a central role in meeting these needs. With a focus on undergraduate and graduate medical education (UME and GME respectively), this role will be critical for ensuring diversity and inclusivity in admissions, learner recruitment and retention and curriculum. The FTE for the Assistant Dean for Diversity and Inclusion position will be .30 and reporting will be to the Associate Dean of Diversity and Inclusion. Participate as part of leadership team of the ODA and with other key leadership groups in the school to inspire, mentor and educate various stakeholders about diversity and inclusion issues around UME and GME, as well as provide input into decision making, strategic planning, goal and policy setting that are necessary to sustain academic excellence and operational efficiency, with a focus on enhancing diversity and inclusion. Deliver Strategic Leadership by creating a vision for diversity and inclusion at BSOM and transmitting this vision to resident physicians, medical students, pipeline students and all learners. This will include working with the Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion to set annual goals and objectives for the ODA that support the mission and objectives of BSOM. Along side the Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion, launch the development and implementation of strategic plans, procedures, proposals, and programs to ensure overall coordination and direction of diversity programs at BSOM. Build a diverse educational environment that is culturally competent through direct educational efforts, curricular representation, and a focus on compositional diversity, climate, curriculum, and culturally and linguistically appropriate services (OAS). Create diversity among students and resident physicians through work with pre-admissions pipeline programs, the BSOM Admissions Committee, and the VMC GME program. Maximize data gathering, analysis, and regulatory compliance. Monitor and evaluate programmatic effectiveness through quantitative, qualitative and other methods and implements changes required for improvement. Develop effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with accreditation agency requirements regarding diversity and Inclusion.
