Bright Star Community Outreach is partnering with the Chicago Center for Youth Violence Prevention (CCYVP) at the University of Chicago in an initiative called Communities that Care (CTC) in the greater Bronzeville community. As part of that process, information is collected to identify which risk factors, protective factors, and problem behaviors are most prevalent in the community, and to use this information to select and implement programs based on the best available evidence that address the community's unique needs. The mission of Bright Star Community Outreach is to empower residents to share in the responsibility of building community through resource development and collaborative partnerships. Job Information

Job Summary:

We are currently looking for a Part-time Temporary Field Staff (Youth Survey Proctor)-1 to join the team.

Responsibilities:
  • Under the supervision of BSCO, University of Chicago and Northwestern University staff, Youth Survey proctors will supervise the administration of the survey to 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th graders.
  • Each proctoring session will last approximately 50 minutes. The survey will be administered digitally via tablets.
  • The survey administration will take place during the school day at varying times between the hours of 7am- 4pm, based on the best available date(s)/time(s) confirmed at each school.

  • Highly motivated, hardworking, and a professional demeanor required:
  • Ability to follow survey protocol and communicate survey details effectively to children.
  • Comfortable engaging and supervising youth in a school setting; comfortable engaging with school leadership and staff; access to reliable transportation and an ability to travel throughout the south side of Chicago is required.


Additional Requirements

Education, Experience, and Certifications:
  • Proctors that are hired must attend a paid, mandatory training at the same hourly rate. Training will begin April 16th. The training will last approximately 4-6 hours. The position will last through mid- June 2018.


Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
  • The survey administration will take place during the school day at varying times between the hours of 7am- 4pm, based on the best available date(s)/time(s) confirmed at each school.
  • Access to reliable transportation and an ability to travel throughout the south side of Chicago is preferred.
