Research Associate-Fixed Term
The laboratory of N. Cecilia Martinez-Gomez in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Michigan State University is seeking a research associate (postdoctoral) to investigate the mechanistic role of lanthanides in plant-microbe interactions. We are specifically interested in defining methylotrophic functions that uniquely contribute to lanthanide dependent growth in the phyllosphere and rhizosphere using system level approaches such as metabolomics, transcriptomics, and genetic analysis. This position will mentor one undergraduate student; will participate in outreach activities; will present data on one national/international conference per year; and will write manuscripts.Required Degree
Doctorate -Microbiology, Biochemistry, or EngineeringMinimum Requirements
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biochemistry, or Engineering. Candidates should be able to work effectively as part of a team, and develop the project independently. He/she will be mentoring one undergraduate student while developing the project. The candidate should have strong written communication skills, and will be writing manuscripts. The candidates will be encouraged to apply for different funding opportunities. Experience in working with plant models is required.
