Lamar State College-Orange invites applications for the position of Accountant III. Lamar State College-Orange (LSC-O) is a two-year state supported college in Orange, Texas. The campus is located in the southeast corner of Texas, near the Louisiana border and 100 miles east of Houston. LSC-O has a current enrollment of approximately 2,600 students, and offers technical, academic, and public service programs.
The Accountant III reports to the Director of Accounting. The Accountant III performs professional accounting work (some advanced), with administrative responsibility for all aspects of Accounts Payable, including the review of and approval for monthly reports prepared by the Accounts Payable clerks. Works under the Director of Accounting with latitude for technical judgment in accomplishment of most phases of work. Interprets policies and procedures in accomplishing work assignments.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university, accounting degree preferred. Two or more years accounting experience is preferred.
Knowledge of accounting principles required. Working knowledge of state regulations and policies pertaining to public funds and government finance preferred. Experience in Higher Education and with Banner software products is preferred. Must be proficient in Excel and MS Word. Ability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data in a clear concise manner.
