Assistant Registrar/Athletic Eligibility Certifying Specialist

The University of North Alabama is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Registrar/Athletic Eligibility Certifying Specialist.The Office of the Registrar supports the teaching and learning mission of the University by providing essential enrollment, curricular, and student record services to the campus community. This position is responsible for the coordination, evaluation, and compliance of the athletic academic eligibility of incoming and continuing student-athletes.

Essential job duties include: Monitor, interpret, apply, and certify compliance with athletic eligibility while correctly applying appropriate university, ASUN, Big South, and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules and regulations for all applicable sports; Act as the certification official in regards to NCAA initial eligibility, transfer eligibility, and continuing eligibility; Collaborate with designated college personnel, academic advisors, and athletic advisors to determine whether student-athlete satisfactory academic progress standards are being met; Complete the eligibility checklists in Compliance Assistant (CA) software as required by the ASUN and Big South; Keep accurate records of student information, observing confidentiality; Assist with degree audit system maintenance as it relates to athletic eligibility; Maintain athletic records related to certification of student athletes according to applicable policies, laws, and regulations; Process student-athlete curricula changes including change of major, minor, concentrations, or catalog years; Monitor and maintain athletic data in the student information system; Verify GPA/enrollment status for club sports and other student life organizations; Assist with walk in, telephone, and email inquiries, and interpretation/explanation of academic policies and procedures as they apply to individual circumstances; Assist with orientation and commencement as needed; Assist with other data processing as needed; Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred; Two to five years of experience in NCAA compliance and academic support, required; Five years of progressive experience in a registrar/student records setting, required; Proficiency in Banner, Degree Works, Compliance Assistance (CA), and NCAA Eligibility Center, preferred.
