LAB RESEARCH ANALYST I - NEURO ONCOLOGY

Occupational Summary

Conduct a variety of investigations in the planning, development and implementation of experimental procedures within the overall scope of a research project at Duke University.

Work Performed
  • Design and perform work related to experiments on mouse models, including injections, surgery, monitoring behavior, and collection and preparation of tissues for histological analyses, RNA/DNA/protein isolation.
  • Design and preform a variety of technical assays, including PCR, q-PCR, Western blotting, ELISAs, gel electrophoresis, and cell culture.
  • Operate laboratory equipment required for specific tests.
  • Document, compile, analyze, and draw tentative conclusions from experimental results.
  • Confer with principal investigator determining specific experiment to be included and discuss the interpretation of results
  • Collect information and data through observation, experimentation.
  • Supervise, train and instruct residents, interns, students or lower level personnel.
  • Prepare tissue and specimens for complex procedures
  • Evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare reports and analyses.
  • Review journals, abstracts and scientific literature to keep abreast of new developments and to obtain information regarding previous experiments to aid in the design and development of original procedures and techniques.

Education

Work requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology or otherdirectly related scientific field.

Experience
