Degree and Area of Specialization:
BS or BA in biological or psychological sciences.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Experience working with biological specimens, including blood, urine and saliva. Experience with biosafety level 2 procedures, and appropriate handling of specimens in biosafety cabinet. Experience with ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) techniques for immune measures. Experience performing bioassays. Ability to use both Macintosh and PC computers. Experience with data entry and analysis programs, especially Excel, and creating and analyzing large datasets, including basic statistical testing preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and diagnostic tests preferred. Working knowledge of several 'omics' fields and platforms, including genomics and metabolomics preferred.

Position Summary:
The overarching objective is to assist in the biomarker testing and analysis for a large study on the biology of health and aging in America (Midlife in the US, aka MIDUS). This ranges from performing the routine testing already underway, learning new techniques, as well as intellectual contribution about potential new techniques (i.e. genomics, proteomics, lipidomics, etc.).
