available for a Sr Nurse Educator, Surgery. The individual plans, develops and implements nursing and compliance education programs. Assists in monitoring standards and maintaining updated information. Serves as a resource to all disciplines. Responsibilities include: Maintains current knowledge of standards, keeping abreast of recent changes that may affect the institution’s policies, procedures and processes. Assists the development and revision of policies and procedures to help ensure standards compliance. Plans, develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates staff orientation and compliance educational training programs. Determines the educational needs required for units. Provides the means for nursing staff to acquire new knowledge and skills to meet changing demands, to enhance levels of clinical performance and to allow for career advancement. Prepares manuals, guides and other educational material. Plans and provides patient teaching relative to proper procedures, disease process, treatments and expected outcomes using appropriate patient teaching materials and resources. Ensures compliance with all institutional policies and procedures including mandatory inservices, employee health procedures, Federal, State, regulatory and accrediting agencies standards and regulations. Assists with the development and implementation of nursing performance improvement program. Assists with continued readiness for regulatory agency inspections. Performs related work as required.
The minimum requirements are as follows: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing, emphasis on Nurse Education required. Current/Valid State of Florida Registered Nurse License required. BLS and ACLS certification. Three years of relevant nursing education experience required. Three years of clinical/hospital perioperative experience preferred. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; verbally and in writing. Knowledge of adult learning principles. Presentation and training skills. Advanced computer literacy skills. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
