Position Description
The Department of Health, Exercise, & Sport Sciences at the University of the Pacific invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) with a start date in August, 2018.

The successful candidate will be the primary instructor in the physical education teacher education program. Standard visiting teaching loads consist of six courses per year. The position will include supervision of student teaching and leadership of Tiger P.R.I.D.E., an after-school physical activity program for high-need youth in local elementary schools. The position requires advising, University service, departmental representation and the maintenance of a research agenda in the field.

Basic Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a master's degree, while a doctorate (or ABD) in physical education, exercise science, kinesiology, or related field is preferred at the time of appointment. The candidate must have the ability to teach undergraduate courses in Motor Learning, Assessment and Evaluation, Instructional Strategies and Methods, Secondary Physical Education and/or Elementary Physical Education and other possible related classes. Strong preference will be given to candidates with evidence of successful K-12 teaching and knowledge of California credentialing standards. Experience working with diverse student populations and participation in professional organizations are also desired. We are particularly interested in candidates whose experience in teaching, research, or community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence.
