Job Description & Salary Range

This is a variable appointment position. The employee will be scheduled 20 hours per week, but may be scheduled up to 40 hours per week as needed to meet the operational needs of the department. This position can also be filled as a Senior Access Representative if the individual has a minimum 12 months experience working in a call center setting plus 12 months experience working in a medical office setting; OR 12 months experience working in a call center in a healthcare setting, the wage range for the Senior Access Representative is $20.57 - $25.58.

Position Summary:

The incumbent provides high quality customer service to patients needing to be contacted in order to effectively schedule specialty referral appointments or to make appointment modifications as a result of operational changes. Provides outbound call center services across all clinical areas within the Medical Center, applying expert understanding of each clinic's unique scheduling requirements. Takes inbound calls from patients calling to obtain medical services as necessary. Serves as a preceptor for new staff.

Salary Range:

Rate Minimum $18.92 Midpoint $21.24 Maximum $23.55

Required Qualifications:

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the HealthSystem

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Demonstrated experience using a computer, including data entry and retrieval

Demonstrated experience using office equipment such as a printer, copier, fax, scanner

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Minimum 6 months experience working in a customer service position plus 6 months in a call center setting; OR 12 months experience working in a call center

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or Vietnamese

Demonstrated experience working in registration, scheduling and/or authorization process

Demonstrated experience working with a patient registration software system

Demonstrated knowledge of insurance programs and/or government programs

Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology

Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
