Job Summary

The Staff Associate provides administrative support to the Department Director and Managers in the ACCESS Department and MEED program staff

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supports the daily administrative function and overall operation of ACCESS and MEED
  • Oversees the reception area ensuring delivery of excellent customer service from part-time staff and student assistants
  • Serves as the ACCESS liaison for accommodated testing within the Testing and Assessment department; supports the accommodated testing process and maintains proctoring schedule for students requiring auxiliary aids and ACCESS services
  • Provides follow-up and monitors quality of auxiliary aids and services plan as outlined by student's Learning Disability Specialist and/or Resource Advisor
  • Performs duties related to disseminating Department information and disability services awareness
  • Assists with logistics and event planning for college-wide MEEED program meetings, events and workshops
  • Prepares payroll, maintains attendance, payroll records and corresponding filing systems
  • Assists with recruitment, hiring and guides the work of student volunteers and service learning participants in support of Department's staffing needs
  • Assists with budget process, payroll, purchase orders, department requisitions disbursements and duplication requests
  • Ensures record confidentiality and maintains an office filing system for student disability records and case file maintenance
  • Monitors inventory and orders supplies including educational materials and adaptive technology
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in appropriate field and two (2) years of related experience; or Associate's degree in appropriate field and four (4) years of related experience
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives and policies and
  • procedures
  • Knowledge of College activities, special programs, testing, counseling and advisement services
  • Knowledge of admission, registration, academic regulations, programs of study and departmental regulations
  • Knowledge of the principles of office management, practices, procedures, equipment and operational requirements of the department
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relations with students, faculty and administration
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, and some weekends
  • Ability to work well and provide excellent interpersonal skills in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
